The movie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Seven Screen Studio. Leo was released worldwide on 19 October 2023 in standard and IMAX formats to mixed reviews from critics. It set several box office records for a Tamil film. It made the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. The film was made on a budget of ₹250–350 crore, and Vijay was reported to receive ₹120 crore (US$15 million) as his remuneration.
The film was officially announced in January 2023 under the tentative title Thalapathy 67, as it is Vijay’s 67th film as a lead actor. After the success of The Master in 2021, the director Lokesh Kanagaraj met Hero Vijay at his residence and he narrated the story to Vijay he was impressed by the director’s script.

In Telugu States (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Leo’s movie collected 48 Crores breaking even with ease. Vijay’s Leo movie has managed to collect 215 Crores total in Tamil Nadu, 60 Crores total box office collection in Kerala. The movie has managed to collect 43 Crores total Gross from Karnataka. This is the dominance of Thalapathy Vijay in the southern states.

About Leo Movie
The film Leo stars Vijay in the titular role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, George Maryan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand and Mathew Thomas. Each and every character in the movie is designed in a very neat way and all the characters in the movie are justified by their role.
The film has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, as usual Anirudh gave the blockbuster hit music to the movie. The cinematography was handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and the editing by Philomin Raj.
Actor Vijay played the role of Prathiban “Prathi” an animal rescuer and a café owner in Thego, Himachal Pradesh living with his wife Sathya (Trisha) was cast as the female lead, reuniting with Vijay 14 years after their last release, Kuruvi(2008). Leo Plot
The story begins in such a way that one day Dacoits enters the café which unveils an aggressive side of Parthiban, actually Vijay’s character is designed in such a way he never shows his anger easily. But when one of the gangsters tries to kill Chintu.
With his aggressiveness, he killed four gangsters. Prathiban got arrested for killing the gangsters. Initially arrested Parthi is released for having committed the murders in self-defense, but unfortunately, his photograph appears in the newspapers all over India.
By looking at the photographs in newspapers one of the notorious gangsters Harold Das in Telangana, informs his elder brother, Antony Das about him. Antony immediately leaves with his men for Theog.
On the other hand, Shanmugham’s relatives attempt to kill Parthi and his family, prompting him to request a high-ranking, armed police officer from Tamil Nadu to be sent to his house for protection. Parthi’s request is granted as Napoleon, having been promoted recently following his heroics with Dilli in Tiruchirappalli, is assigned to protect his family.
After meeting Parthiban, Antony insists that Parthi is his son, Leo Das, who is assumed to be dead but Parthiban denies this. Meanwhile, Antony threatens him to accept his identity and surrender or face the consequences. He also meets Sathya and tells her that Leo is a mass murderer, prompting her to dig into Parthiban’s past.
Likewise, the story has more twists and action scenes are also designed in a very good way. It is a treat to watch Vijay and Trisha on a big screen after many years. Music also becomes one of the big advantages of the movie. This made the movie be huge success at the box office.
