Muthu Rerelease Movie Verdict

Muthu is a Block Buster Movie

The zamindar’s (Sarathbabu) obedient servant is Muthu (Rajnikanth). The zamindar develops feelings for the drama artist Ranganayagi (Meena), but due to unspecified circumstances, Muthu and Ranganayagi both fall in love. Radharavi, the zamindar’s uncle, poisons the zamindar’s mind with the expectation that he will marry his daughter and kick Muthu out of the house. However, Muthu’s mother tells him the truth about his background and clarifies that Muthu was the zamindar after all. Like the latest film Friends, Muthu also started life in Malayalam cinema but underwent several adjustments to accommodate Tamil cinema’s demands regarding Rajnikanth’s image. Based on the Mohanlal and Shobana film Thenmaavin Kombathu, it adds the entire story regarding Rajnikanth’s past while retaining the core plot of the original. This makes it possible to provide Rajnikanth with a dual character, satisfying his followers twice over and allowing him to spew even more life lessons.

Most of the film’s comedy occurs in the first half, mostly in the scene where Rajnikanth and Meena get lost and wind up in Kerala. The interactions Rajnikanth has when Meena gives him the incorrect interpretation when he asks for directions, as well as the outcome, are hilarious. There’s also some hilarity in his early arguments with her, particularly in the fight scene. Senthil, Vadivelu, and the rest are also there, but their humor is cheesy and infrequently humorous beyond a few lines.

There are enough political allusions strewn throughout the film to make Rajnikanth fans giddy and cheering. In this regard, Ravikumar performs rather well by staying away from overkill. When Meena is being questioned by Rajni after he interrupts her on stage, Jayalalitha is the target. This scene’s dialogue is meant to make any fan stand up. Vairamuthu manages to insert some blatantly political words into the songs, especially Kuluvaalile, thus even romantic melodies are not left out.

Other than this, there are a few particularly noteworthy parts of the film. The scene involving the older Rajnikanth is expertly performed, and Rajnikanth looks great in the role of the meek, kind Zamindar. In the same vein, the entire love letter sequence—which culminates in the song Thillaanaa—is humorously choreographed. However, things become a little disorganized in the end. While Sarathbabu’s sudden about-face is a bit too expedient, his appearance following his fall is nothing short of amazing.

Like in every other recent Rajnikanth film, he skillfully bears the film on his shoulders and controls most of the action, leaving nothing for the others to do. Meena appears endearing and charming, particularly in her early confrontations with Rajnikanth. With every successful film in which Sarathbabu and Rajnikanth have starred together, Sarathbabu has always been a lucky actor for Rajnikanth. Muthu supplemented this list. The two standout tracks from A.R. Rehman’s popular soundtrack are Oruvan Oruvan and Kuluvaalile. The song “Thillaanaa Thillaanaa…” is catchy and masterfully visualized with its vibrant colors and quick steps.
